Disney Dreamers Academy 2020 by the numbers

The 2020 Disney Dreamers Academy with Steve Harvey and ESSENCE Magazine kicked of at Walt Disney World on Thursday. The 100 students selected to participate in this year's event came from across the nation to discover new career opportunities and pursue their dreams.

Students come from all walks of life and experiences here's a snapshot of this year's class.

Disney Dreamers Academy 2020: By the Numbers

▪ 2: Disney Dreamers have performed at Carnegie Hall

▪ 2: Disney Dreamers adopted from outside of the United States

▪ 3: Disney Dreamers have appeared on national TV shows

▪ 4: Students want to be Disney Imagineers

▪ 6: Disney Dreamers run their own businesses or charity organizations

▪ 7: Alumni returning to participate in this year’s event

▪ 13: Years of Disney Dreamers Academy

▪ 14: Students from Georgia, the state with the highest representation this year, followed by 12 from
California, and 8 from Florida

▪ 17: Career specific workshops known as Deep Dives, based on the students’ career interests, including first time offering Aviation/Space

▪ 20: Students who actively volunteer in their communities

▪ 25+ Externships/shadowing experiences following Disney Dreamers Academy earned by students with organizations including Walt Disney Imagineering, Disney Channel, ESPN, ABC, JP Morgan and
ESSENCE

▪ 31: Disney Dreamers interested in a medical career, the most popular career path among the students,
followed by 13 students who want a career in engineering and 6 interested in law.

▪ 31: States represented at this year’s event

▪ 100 Teens attending the 2019 Disney Dreamers Academy, becoming inspired to dedicate themselves to
their dreams and Be100 in their everyday lives

▪ 1,000: Disney Cast Members involved in planning this year’s program

▪ 1,300+: Disney Dreamers who have participated in the event since its creation

▪ 3,108: miles Gabrielle R. will travel from Orting, Wash. to Lake Buena Vista, Fla., to attend Disney
Dreamers Academy, making them the farthest-traveling students; 12: miles Orlando-area Disney Dreamer David D. will travel to attend Disney Dreamers Academy, making him the closest in proximity.
